Co-Founder of Out of the Valley

Christopher Selman is the co-founder of Out of the Valley, creating handcrafted outdoor saunas rooted in craftsmanship, landscape and ritual. Introduced to sauna culture through his Finnish family, Chris spent years exploring bathing traditions around the world before leaving a career in commercial real estate to join founder Rupert McKelvie in growing the Devon-based studio. His research into more than 100 saunas across Europe, Japan and Australia informed the Gestalten book Ridiculously Good-Looking Saunas. Today, his work explores how thoughtful design, nature and the restorative ritual of heat can help people slow down and reconnect.
